The Photography of Owen Perry

Wildfire

A series of photography covering the Dog Mountain wildfire in the summer of 2015. We watched from across Sproat Lake in amazed disbelief as the entire mountain went up in flames before our eyes. While wildfires are a part of a forest’s natural process, the summer of 2015 was the most intense wildfire season ever recorded in British Columbia. Exacerbated by climate change and the mountain pine beetle infestation, scientists believe fires like this will continue to increase in number, size and intensity.
